Dr. Alex Chiu, CEO of Air Visits in Part 2 of our interview
Advice for practitioners scared to make the leap to telemedicine
Dr. Chiu’s wisdom and recommendations for healthcare systems struggling to adapt to the pandemic cannot be ignored! He states that if your practice has not been able to recover patient numbers due fear of in-person risks, then it’s time to make a decision. Do you get up and running with a simple Zoom or facetime setup or do you invest in something more robust, something that can process 100s of patients verses 10. He also reminds providers to not be fearful of patient adoption, they all have phones and they all use Facetime. They’re ready to work in this medium! Alongside considering the size of your system is the mandatory HIPAA and compliance frameworks that cannot be ignored. Think of how you maintain the privacy and safety of all patient information and interaction.
Staying compliant and supporting critical care for the top 10 causes of U.S. deaths
Dr. Chiu explains the life and death support his team offers for 911 telemedicine. He explains why it’s incredibly critical for language service support to be built immediately in to these systems and workflows.
Scrambling for interpreters during a 911 call can have dangerous outcomes. To not think of LEP or Deaf individuals in these critical situations is beyond neglectful.
Lastly, Dr. Chiu gives a tour of his awesome Air Visits telehealth center. This is a must see! The operational flow, remote virtual exam rooms, and quality assurances all take place here for 100s of patients a day! The future of telemedicine is here, and it looks a lot like this.
