What are Ad Astra’s Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services?

Deaf and Hard of Hearing services include Sign Language support, expert Transcription services, Oral Transliterators (Cued Speech), Captioning, and Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART) Services.

In North America, ASL is the dominant sign language. If you are looking for American Sign Language services, we can help. Click here to see our ASL services.

However, it is important to note that ASL is not the only sign language in North America. There are many different dialects of sign language, and the one you need may vary depending on your location. If you’re not sure which dialect to use, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

It’s estimated that there are between 150 to 300 Sign Language dialects used around the world! This means that there is no single sign language that is universally understood.

How do we provide premium Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services?

We vet our sign language interpreters through two key components:

  • Linguistic competency: We confirm all our ASL interpreters’ credentials, certifications, educational backgrounds, and linguistic aptitudes to ensure they are up to the task for your unique needs. We also provide ongoing training and development to ensure our interpreters are always up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in the field of sign language.
  • Cultural competency: We ensure that the interpreter we choose is culturally competent to guarantee that the communication to the audience is as accurate as possible. The cultural background of the audience and the interpreter must be aligned to ensure that the communication is as effective and natural as possible.

Ad Astra’s specialized ASL/CDI Media Team

Ad Astra has assembled a team of talented ASL interpreters who are experts in media interpretation.

They are familiar with the requirements of appropriate media presence and best practices, and they are committed to providing accurate and effective interpretation services.
